Joining the European Clean-Up Day: 15 kg of Plastic Collected from Our Coast
On August 1st, 2023, we proudly joined the European Clean-Up Day by organizing a beach clean-up in collaboration with Diver Center Mallorca and Nauta Morgau. This initiative was part of our ongoing commitment to tackle plastic pollution and protect the health of our marine environment.
The clean-up brought together 53 participants — a fantastic group of ocean lovers, volunteers, and local partners who dedicated their time and energy to make a real difference. Together, we managed to collect 15 kilograms of waste from the coastline, preventing it from entering the sea and harming marine life.
During the activity, we carefully recorded the types of litter collected. The most common item found was cigarette butts — a shocking 932 in total. Cigarette filters, though small, are one of the most harmful and persistent pollutants, releasing toxic chemicals into the environment and taking years to break down.
This clean-up was not just about removing waste, but also about raising awareness of the impact of single-use plastics and harmful littering habits. It was a moment to reflect, learn, and inspire more people to take action for cleaner beaches and healthier oceans.
We are grateful to Diver Center Mallorca, Nauta Morgau, and everyone who participated. Together, we continue to show that collective action works — and that every effort counts in the fight against plastic pollution.
