Creative Sail Painting in Puerto Portals Inspires Young Ocean Advocate
This July, Clean Boating brought creativity, storytelling, and marine conservation together in a unique creative sail painting activity at Puerto Portals, in collaboration with Blue Marina and the Puerto Portals Summer School. The event aimed to connect children with the ocean through art, imagination, and meaningful conversation about protecting our seas.
Storytelling Meets Art for Ocean Awareness
The day began with a captivating ocean-themed storytelling session. As the story unfolded, each child was given a marine creature character to inspire their creativity. From turtles to dolphins, jellyfish to starfish, the children learned about the role each species plays in the ocean ecosystem and why they deserve our protection.
Transforming a Sail into an Underwater World
Working together, the children used brushes and paints to transform a large, old sail into a colorful underwater world. Each marine creature came to life in vibrant colors, creating a collaborative artwork that celebrated the beauty and diversity of ocean life.
Letters to the Sea
While some painted, others took part in our "Letter to the Sea" activity, writing heartfelt and impactful messages to the ocean. These initiative by SomosOceano letters expressed hopes, promises, and calls for action—powerful reminders of how even the youngest voices can inspire change.
A Lasting Impact
This event was more than just a creative workshop—it was an opportunity to instill environmental awareness and responsibility in the next generation. By blending art, education, and hands-on experience, we showed that protecting our oceans can be both inspiring and fun.
We are grateful to Blue Marina and Puerto Portals Summer School for making this collaboration possible and for sharing our vision of engaging young people in marine conservation.
