World Ocean Day 2025: United for a Cleaner Sea
On World Ocean Day, something powerful happened along the coast of Santanyí. Students from CEIP Santa Maria joined forces with divers, educators, and local partners to explore, protect, and speak up for our seas — on land, underwater, and out at sea. The event was part of our ongoing mission at Clean Boating to connect communities with the ocean and inspire real action for a healthier, plastic-free future.
Learning to Protect What We LoveWe began the day with hands-on educational activities, where students learned to identify marine species and discovered how human actions — big and small — affect life beneath the surface. These moments sparked curiosity, empathy, and a deeper understanding of why the sea needs our care.
The Beach Clean-Up: Small Hands, Big Results Next, the students rolled up their sleeves and led a beach clean-up and waste audit. Their findings were both impressive and eye-opening:
Underwater and On the Water: A Full Circle Effort While the beach was being cleaned, diving teams got to work below the surface. Out at sea, a support crew patrolled the coastline by boat, demonstrating how powerful teamwork can be — whether on land, under water, or on deck. This is what they callected:
What does the ocean mean to you? What worries you? What do you hope for its future?
Their answers were raw, emotional, and full of hope — reminding us why this work matters, and why it must continue.
